The question is how to clean gold jewelry. There is an old wives’ tale saying use toothpaste and that is an old wives’ tale. What you want to use is a toothbrush. Toothpaste is very abrasive and it will actually scratch your jewelry. Most gold jewelry in America has either gold, rubies, sapphires, and some other stones like amethyst and citrine. If you have emerald, opal, or quartz you have to take special precaution but how to clean gold jewelry, you’re going to think I’m crazy, household cleaner. A toothbrush and just sit there and clean it, it’s just soap and water. Gold jewelry is not affected by it. This is a diamond ring, the diamonds aren’t affected by it and most gem stones and most jewelry on the market today will not be affected in any way and all you are trying to do is clean it and it is just soap and water so spray a little more, brush it with a toothbrush, not toothpaste and when you’re finished just rinse it off, take a towel, just take a paper towel, and dry it. Good as new.
